United Way of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District (“United Way”) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all personal information entrusted to us by donors, volunteers, employees, partners, and community members. United Way values the trust of our supporters and community. We are dedicated to maintaining that trust by protecting personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws and ethical standards.

Personal information may be collected through correspondence, online donations, pledge cards, event registrations, volunteer applications, or other forms of communication. This information is used only for purposes such as:

Processing and receipting donations

Distributing funds to funded partners or other registered charities

Recognizing contributions

Registering participation in events or meetings

Responding to information requests


DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION
United Way will not disclose or share personal information with third parties unless:

You authorize us to do so;

It is necessary to process a donation (e.g., to process a credit card transaction); or

We are required by law.


We may share information with our Funded Program Partners or Members only for the purpose for which it was provided, and only when confidentiality is maintained.
