Every child deserves to start the school year with confidence.

We are proud to announce that United Way Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District and Sammy's Backpacks have joined forces to help ensure more local children head back to school with the supplies they need to succeed.

By working together, we're reducing barriers for families, maximizing community resources, and honouring Sammy's legacy of kindness, compassion, and helping others.

Over the years, our backpack program has continued to grow thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. What began as a way to support local students has expanded year after year, helping more children start the school year feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

As the need continues to grow, so does our commitment. Together with our community, we hope to continue expanding this initiative so that every child who needs a backpack and school supplies has access to them. Together, we're helping ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed from the very first day of school.
