BACKPACKS FOR SUCCESS

United Way Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District’s Backpacks for Success program helps ensure local students have the school supplies they need to begin the school year feeling prepared and ready to learn.

In 2026, United Way partnered with Sammy’s Backpacks, bringing our efforts together to expand the reach of the program and support even more students throughout Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, sponsors, community partners, and volunteers, 870 fully stuffed backpacks were distributed to local students during the first week of school.

This year’s campaign also continued the legacy of Sam Graham Jr. and Sammy’s Backpacks, building on a shared commitment to helping children and families in our community

Together, we helped 870 local students start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.
